Product Details

This finely carved Eagle Mask is by Kwakwaka’wakw artist Junior Henderson (ƛ̓aqwasgəm) from the Wei Wai Kum Band in Campbell River. It has been hand-carved from red cedar and is painted in yellow, red, dark green and black acrylic and finished with bundles of cedar bark. Delicate, visible tool marks give this mask a beautiful, textured finish.

The Eagle Symbol is known as “The master of skies” and is a symbol of great significance. He is believed to be the creature with the closest relationship with the creator. Soaring to great heights, he can travel between the physical and the spiritual world. He is said to be a messenger to the creator.
